BLOCK STORAGE
Block Storage chops your data in to blocks and write them down to a physical disk.
When you view the blocks, you have no idea what kind of data that is. Each block has its own unique identifier that matches them together which allows you to read your data again.
We are working with IBM FlashSystem regarding block-storage.
IBM FlashSystem is a family of data management solutions designed to meet modern block storage requirements while reducing costs and complexity including storage virtualization powered by IBM Spectrum Virtualize.
FILE STORAGE
File storage—also called file-level or file-based storage—is a hierarchical storage methodology used to organize and store data on a computer hard drive or on network-attached storage (NAS) device. In file storage, data is stored in files, the files are organized in folders, and the folders are organized under a hierarchy of directories and subdirectories. To locate a file, all you or your computer system need is the path—from directory to subdirectory to folder to file.
We are working with IBM ESS regarding file-storage.

OBJECT STORAGE

Each system gets its own chunk of blocks that are dedicated to that system. If you have a Linux machine it can write its own data in its own format, and a Windows machine can write its own data in its on format without any explanation to other systems.
